Towards Qualification of Epoxy Resins for Superconducting Magnets Exposed to Radiation Doses Exceeding 100 MGy: Effect of the Radiation Source and Environment / Scheuerlein, Christian (CERN) ; Ravotti, Federico (CERN) ; Pezzulo, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Koettig, Torsten (CERN) ; Aberle, Oliver (CERN) ; Bernardes, Ana-Paula (CERN) ; Piccin, Roland (CERN) ; Eisterer, Michael (TU Vienna)
To qualify epoxy resin systems for use in superconducting magnets of future particle accelerators up to peak doses beyond 100 MGy, the effects of the irradiation source, the irradiation environment and the irradiation temperature have been assessed. Identical epoxy resin samples have been irradiated with 60Co gamma rays, 24 GeV/c protons and by mixed neutron/gamma radiation in a reactor and at a spallation source up to a dose of 170 MGy. [...]

A Helium Ion Linear Accelerator Optimised for Astatine Production / Vretenar, Maurizio (CERN) ; Lombardi, Alessandra (CERN) ; Nikitovic, Lazar (CERN ; Riga Tech. U.)
This paper presents the design of a linear accelerator optimised for the production of astatine-211, one of the most effective theragnostics isotopes for targeted alpha therapy of cancer (TAT). When attached to a carrier molecule that selectively binds to cancer cells, this powerful alpha emitter enables highly localised cell damage. [...]

Effects of inlet temperature and pressure in sCO2 heat transfer in a 1 mm diameter horizontal tube / Pedano-Medina, Camila (CERN ; Offenburg U. Appl. Sci. ; KIT, Karlsruhe) ; Petagna, Paolo (CERN) ; Gleissle, Susanne (Offenburg U. Appl. Sci.)
Supercritical CO2 (sCO2 ) is of high interest for compact cooling applications, yet local heat transfer data in millimetric scale horizontal tubes under electronics-relevant conditions remain scarce. This work reports local heat transfer coefficients, pressure drops and temperature-inlet-to-outlet values for CO2 at inlet pressures from 7.5 to 8.5 MPa flowing in a 1 mm horizontal stainless-steel tube with 𝐺 = 2130 kg m−2 s −1 ( ̇𝑚 ≈ 1.8 g s−1 ) and uniform Joule heating over 𝐿ℎ = 0.903 m at 𝑞 = 35 kW m−2 . Anthropogenic organic aerosol in Europe produced mainly through second-generation oxidation / Xiao, Mao ; Wang, Mingyi ; Mentler, Bernhard ; Garmash, Olga ; Lamkaddam, Houssni ; Molteni, Ugo ; Simon, Mario ; Ahonen, Lauri ; Amorim, Antonio ; Baccarini, Andrea et al.
Exposure to anthropogenic atmospheric aerosol is a major health issue, causing several million deaths per year worldwide. The oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons from traffic and wood combustion is an important anthropogenic source of low-volatility species in secondary organic aerosol, especially in heavily polluted environments. FCC― 次世代円形衝突型加速器 / OIDE, Katsunobu (CERN ; U. Geneva (main) ; KEK, Tsukuba)
FCC is a project for a next generation circular collider based at CERN, as the next step of LEP/LHC experiments. It will have at least two stages : (i) measurements on electroweak (Z/W), Higgs, tt by e+e- collision (FCC-ee) and (ii) energy frontier pp collision (FCC-hh) up to 100 TeV center of mass (CM) energy. Both will be performed by colliders in the same tunnel with 90–100 km circumference built around the Geneva area across the Swiss-French border..

In this work, we utilize a new suite of Milky Way-mass halos from the DREAMS Project, simulated with Cold Dark Matter (CDM), to quantify the influence of baryon feedback and intrinsic halo-to-halo variance on dark matter density profiles. Our suite of 1024 halos varies over supernova and black hole feedback parameters from the IllustrisTNG model, as well as variations in two cosmological parameters. [...]
