Performance highlights from ALICE
/ Schlepper, Felix (CERN ; U. Heidelberg (main))
/ALICE Collaboration
The ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC has undergone a major upgrade program for Run 3, enabling high-precision studies of the quark-gluon plasma and rare probes in high-multiplicity environments. Key detector improvements, including the new Inner Tracking System (ITS2) with 12.8 billion pixels and a first layer at 22 mm from the nominal interaction point, and a GEM-based Time Projection Chamber, facilitate data taking at a Pb-Pb interaction rate of 50 kHz at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}} = 5.36$ TeV and, in pp, selective rates up to 1 MHz at $\sqrt{s}=13.6$ TeV.The O$^2$ computing framework enables online/offline integration and selective data storage through an offline trigger program, called skimming, compressing datasets to 4.5% of their original size.In 2022-2024, ALICE collected over 4.7 trillion pp events, 72.1 pb${}^{-1}$, and more than 80 PB of Pb-Pb data, 3 nb$^{-1}$, with more than 96% availability. MOnolithic Stitched sensor with Timing (MOST): design overview and measurements highlights
/ ALICE Collaboration
The MOST (Monolithic Stitched Sensor with Timing) is a 26 cm long wafer-scale pixel sensor prototype that bridges generic R&D; for future High Energy Physics (HEP) detectors with the developments aimed for the ALICE Inner Tracking System (ITS3).Its main purpose is to investigate the yield of high-density pixel architectures, assess the timing capabilities of asynchronous readout, investigate an alternative sensor biasing scheme, evaluate yield enhancing power segmentation and verify a robust bias distribution method resilient to fluctuations of supply voltages. This contribution presents both the design overview of the MOST chip and key measurements that validate its functionality and performance..

Designing the ALICE 3 bRICH detector: Simulation studies and beam test results
/ Nicassio, N (INFN, Bari ; Bari Polytechnic ; CERN) ; Congedo, L (INFN, Bari) ; De Robertis, G (INFN, Bari) ; Di Bari, D (INFN, Bari ; Bari Polytechnic) ; Di Mauro, A (CERN) ; Durini Romero, D (INAOE, Puebla) ; Giliberti, M (INFN, Bari) ; Kiss, T (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Licciulli, F (INFN, Bari) ; Liguori, A (INFN, Bari ; Bari Polytechnic) et al.
The ALICE Collaboration is proposing a completely new apparatus, ALICE 3, for the LHC Run 5. The design target of the ALICE 3 charged particle identification (PID) system is to ensure a better than 3σe/π, π/K and K/p separation for momenta up to 2 GeV/c, 10 GeV/c and 16 GeV/c, respectively. [...]

Integrating lpGBT links into the Common Readout Units (CRU) of the ALICE experiment
/ David, E. (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Kiss, T. (Wigner RCP, Budapest)
/ALICE Collaboration
In the ALICE read-out and trigger system, the present GBT and CRU based solution will also serve for Run4 without major modifications. By now, the GBT protocol has been superseded by lpGBT. [...]
