First-principle evaluation of inclusive hadronic $τ$ decays in QCD+QED / Di Carlo, Matteo (CERN) ; Bacchio, Simone (Cyprus Inst.) ; Bäske, Erik (Humboldt U., Berlin (main)) ; De Santis, Alessandro (Helmholtz Inst., Mainz ; Darmstadt, GSI) ; Evangelista, Antonio (Cyprus U.) ; Frezzotti, Roberto (INFN, Rome2 ; Rome U., Tor Vergata) ; Gagliardi, Giuseppe (INFN, Rome3) ; Holan, Lukas (Humboldt U., Berlin (main)) ; Lubicz, Vittorio (INFN, Rome3 ; Rome III U.) ; Maio, Lorenzo (INFN, Rome2 ; U. Rome 2, Tor Vergata (main)) et al.
We present a strategy to extend lattice calculations of inclusive hadronic $τ$ decays from isosymmetric QCD to QCD+QED. The inclusive decay rate can be related to suitable Euclidean correlation functions, allowing for a first-principles evaluation of electromagnetic and isospin-breaking effects. [...]

We discuss the extraction of heavy-light pseudo-scalar to light pseudo-scalar decay form factors from finite time correlation functions. We place particular emphasis on the contamination from excited states employing summed ratios and input from chiral perturbation theory. [...]

Resonant Landau-Zener conversion in multi-axion systems / Dunsky, David I. (New York U., CCPP) ; Manzari, Claudio Andrea (UC, Berkeley ; LBL, Berkeley) ; Quílez, Pablo (UC, San Diego ; CERN) ; Ramos, Maria (CERN) ; Sørensen, Philip (U. Padua, Dept. Phys. Astron. ; INFN, Padua)
Multiple axions may emerge in the low-energy effective theory of Nature. Generically, the potentials describing these axion fields are non-diagonal, leading to mass mixing between axion states which can be temperature-dependent due to QCD instanton effects. [...]

Deforming and dissecting AdS$_3$ with matter / Callebaut, Nele (Cologne U.) ; Hergueta, Blanca (Cologne U.) ; Monten, Ruben (CERN) ; Selle, Matteo (Cologne U.)
We study deformations of the model by Henneaux, Martínez, Troncoso and Zanelli [arXiv:hep-th/0201170] which features asymptotically AdS$_3$ black hole solutions that incorporate the exact backreaction of a scalar field. The presence of bulk matter causes the $T \overline T$ deformation of the (putative) dual CFT$_2$ to differ from the deformation defined in the bulk by imposing Dirichlet boundary conditions at finite radius. Quirks Live in Cool Universes / Asadi, Pouya (UC, Santa Cruz) ; Kribs, Graham D. (Oregon U. ; CERN) ; Luty, Markus A. (UC, Davis, QMAP)
We demonstrate that cosmological observations place strong bounds on the reheat temperature $T_\text{RH}$ of the Standard Model (SM) in minimal models of `quirks' -- heavy fermions transforming under the SM gauge group together with a new non-Abelian gauge interaction with a confinement scale far below the mass of the fermions. These models have unique collider signals associated with the confining flux strings, which cannot break due to the large mass of the quirks. [...]

Probing invisible particles with charm hadron decays / Hiller, Gudrun (Dortmund U. ; CERN) ; Suelmann, Dominik (Dortmund U.)
We point out opportunities to probe invisible particles, left- and right-handed neutrinos, axion-like particles (ALPs) and dark photons $(Z^\prime)$ with rare decays of charm hadrons. We employ and recast existing searches in $D \to (π, ω) X$, $D^ 0 \to X$ and $Λ_c \to p X$, where $X$ denotes one of the above invisible final states including dineutrinos. [...]

The heavy quark-antiquark asymmetry in the variable flavor number scheme / Behring, A. (Garching, Max Planck Inst.) ; Blümlein, J. (DESY ; Dortmund U.) ; De Freitas, A. (Linz U., RISC) ; von Manteuffel, A. (Regensburg U.) ; Schneider, C. (Linz U., RISC) ; Schönwald, K. (CERN)
The twist-2 heavy-quark and antiquark distributions, as defined in the variable flavor number scheme, turn out to be different due to QCD corrections from three-loop onward. This is caused by terms containing the color factor $d_{abc} d^{abc}$ in the heavy-flavor massive pure-singlet operator matrix elements (OMEs) $A^{\rm PS, s, (3)}_{Qq}$ for odd moments in the unpolarized case and for $ΔA^{\rm PS, s, (3)}_{Qq}$ for even moments in the polarized case. How large can lepton mixing be? / de Blas, J. (Granada U.) ; Giuliano, C. (Granada U.) ; Guedes, G. (DESY ; CERN) ; López, R. Sánchez (Granada U.) ; Santiago, J. (Granada U.)
We show that, contrary to common expectations, the observed charged leptons can have a substantial mixing with new heavier fermions, at the level of 20$\%$. This can happen, in the language of effective theories, when the effect of mixing with heavier fermions vanishes at tree level in operators of mass-dimension 6 (or it is suppressed by the small charged lepton masses), a cancellation that can be naturally ensured by symmetries [...]

Jet Production at NNLO: Exploring a New Scheme / Buonocore, Luca (CERN) ; Grazzini, Massimiliano (U. Zurich (main)) ; Guadagni, Flavio (U. Zurich (main)) ; Haag, Jürg (U. Bern, AEC) ; Kallweit, Stefan (Zurich U.) ; Rottoli, Luca (Milan Bicocca U. ; INFN, Milan Bicocca)
We consider dijet production in $e^+e^-$ collisions and in $H\to b{\bar b}$ decays at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in perturbative QCD. A new non-local subtraction scheme is applied, for the first time, to obtain the fully differential cross section for these benchmark processes. [...]

We compute three-loop virtual corrections to the associated production of a Higgs boson with a $Z$ boson in the large-$m_t$ limit. We describe in detail the application of the asymptotic expansion and provide, for all form factors, analytic results for the first three terms in the $1/m_t$ expansion. [...]
